Applications are currently open for our 2024 credit risk and insurance internships! The 10-week programs gives interns the opportunity to gain practical insight into the world of consulting while acquiring the foundational technical skills to succeed in the industry through a variety of training and completion of a project.

We recently sat down with some of our summer interns to gain an insight into their experience and time at 4most. Here we dig into how they found the programme and their highlights and advice for future interns.

Q1: Describe your 4most internship.

Anna: My credit risk internship at 4most consisted of training, followed by working on a project. The training focused on both the technical aspects of credit risk and the soft skills that are essential in the consulting industry. This training included a mix of sessions, assignments, and presentations, which I found gave me a well-rounded understanding of the credit risk industry and effectively prepared me for the project. I found the project particularly rewarding, and it gave me an opportunity to engage in meaningful work while getting a taste of the day-to-day life of a credit risk consultant at 4most.

Zixuan: I had the opportunity to work alongside a dynamic and talented team of professionals during my Insurance internship. I was exposed to real-world projects that allowed me to apply my academic knowledge to practical situations, enhancing my understanding of these industries. I gained expertise in several key areas relevant to insurance, such as various products, Solvency II, IFRS 17 and actuarial modelling techniques.

Q2: What did you enjoy most about your internship experience?

Dylan: Working in London over the summer was a brilliant experience. The location of 4most in the heart of the city offered a plethora of opportunities for socialising and networking. Whether it was having a catchup at a local coffee shop or enjoying the view from the rooftop terrace after work, the city’s vibrant atmosphere made the internship even more rewarding.

Anna: Besides the culture at 4most, I particularly enjoyed working on the project. It was incredibly rewarding to have the independence and freedom to figure out how to tackle tasks, while also receiving the right level of guidance and support when needed. I particularly enjoyed the problem-solving aspect of the project, and the opportunity to apply my technical skills to real-world tasks.

Zixuan: I genuinely appreciated the collaborative working environment at 4most. Whenever I had a technical question or needed assistance, I could always reach out to my colleagues, and they were incredibly kind and willing to help.

Q3: How did you find the working atmosphere at 4most?

Anna: I felt welcomed from my first day of the internship, and the friendliness of the other employees made it easy for me to integrate into 4most during the time I was there. Beyond work, I had a great time bouldering, playing shuffleboard, and attending socials with other employees.

Zixuan: The working atmosphere at 4most is exceptional. It’s a place where both professional growth and personal connections are highly valued. The company places a strong emphasis on fostering a sense of community. There were regular social events that allowed us to relax and get to know our colleagues on a personal level. These events ranged from Thursday evening socials to team-building activities and charity initiatives.

Dylan: The atmosphere is welcoming and encouraging, making it a place where you look forward to working every day. The frequent social events provide excellent opportunities to interact with people across the company at all levels. In my first week, I had the chance to chat with multiple C-suite executives, an opportunity not readily available in larger firms.

Q4: Do you have any tips / advice for future 4most internship applicants?

Dylan: When applying to 4most, emphasise what makes you unique, both in skills and perspective. For example, my Computer Science background allowed me to articulate how I could contribute a unique viewpoint to a role predominantly focused on credit risk. Ensure your application, whether it’s the CV, or during interviews, showcases not only your technical competencies but also your individual attributes and what sets you apart.

Zixuan: Take the time to research the company thoroughly. Understand what they do, their core values, and their culture. This will not only help you tailor your application but also demonstrate your genuine interest in 4most.

Anna: I would advise future interns to get involved with different activities and socials. Embracing 4most’s culture will go a long way towards ensuring they have an enjoyable and successful internship. I would also advise them to ask questions and remember that everyone is happy to help them.
