What we expect from you

Be analytical

The ability to leverage available skills and data to solve problems and create solutions is key.

Be organised

We’re here to deliver bespoke solutions to our clients that are structured in a clear and methodical way.

Be flexible

Client satisfaction is crucial and we do this by understanding and adapting to their needs.

Be decisive

You should be able to give expert advice within a technical or professional field, and demonstrate clear and informed decisions.

Be supportive

4most embraces individual diversity and collaboration, so we expect 4mosters to be inclusive, compassionate and helpful.

Be honest

We value transparency and integrity, and so should you.

Be enthusiastic

Have a strong passion for what you do, and always strive to improve (both as an individual and as part of the team).

Be self-motivated

We are always striving to improve, so it’s important that you’re keen to develop both yourself and 4most alike.

Required skill and knowledge

The solutions we provide our clients with are analytically driven, so we typically look for candidates with a discipline grounded in numerical methods / statistics, computing, or data. Although not essential, it is advantageous to have at least 6 months work experience within a related field, especially financial services.

Communication is key; interacting internally and to external stakeholders, both verbally and written, is essential to bringing our results and recommendations to life. So we seek prominent influencing and interpersonal skills.

Specific requirements for each role are below.

Credit risk

  • Coding – the solutions we build will mostly require use of analysis packages and so experience and demonstration of a coding ability is crucial. We look for SAS or SQL, but we acknowledge both R and Python as foundation coding experience too.
  • Analysis – demonstration of manipulating and analysing large datasets with customer information.
  • Regulation – knowledge of local regulatory environments across areas such as IFRS 9 and Basel, or of regulatory activity outside of the UK in areas such as TRIM or CECL, is encouraged.

Insurance

  • IT skills – a successful candidate will be proficient working with spreadsheets and will have experience utilising a range of complex functions. Experience or knowledge working with a coding language (e.g. VBA, R, MatLab, Python) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Study – we expect applicants to have an understanding of the examination pathway that is required to become a Fellow of the IFoA. Study support will be provided by 4most, but we expect students to revise in their own time as well. Exemptions or passes in any of the examinations are not a requirement.
  • Regulation – awareness of local regulatory environments such as Solvency II or IFRS 17 and key life insurance products (e.g. annuities) is encouraged.

Data

  • Coding – the solutions we build mostly require use of analysis packages, and so experience and demonstration of a coding ability is crucial. We look for proficiency in either Python, SQL, R, or SAS.
  • Analysis – demonstration of manipulating and analysing large datasets with customer information.

Market risk

  • Coding – the solutions we build mostly require use of analysis packages, and so experience and demonstration of a coding ability is crucial. We look for proficiency in Python, but also recognise SQL, R, or SAS as foundational coding languages.
  • Analysis – demonstration of manipulating and analysing large datasets with customer information.
The application process

Please note for those applying to our Dublin office, we only accept applications from Ireland permanent residents or EU citizens, and we expect our analysts to be able to travel to the UK on a regular basis.

If you require any reasonable adjustments in order to complete the application process, please contact graduates@4-most.co.uk.

Below is an outline of the application process. Please note that details may differ across roles and locations, so be sure to check each job specification carefully.

  • Apply online & complete application form: Apply online and complete a short application form to let us know why you want to join 4most, and share your relevant work experience and skills with us.
  • Video interview: Attend a 30-minute video interview over Microsoft Teams so that we can get to know you a bit better. We’ll discuss items such as your CV, application form, and experience in more depth.
  • Technical test: Complete an online assessment comprising an Excel Task, short numeric reasoning test, and coding exercise (only for those applying for Credit Risk, Data, or Market Risk). The coding tasks can be completed with either SAS, SQL, Python, or R.
  • Assessment day / final interview: Visit our London, Leeds, or Dublin office along with a small group of fellow applicants (depending on role / location) to complete your final interview with one of our senior consultants. You’ll also have the opportunity to pre-plan and deliver a presentation around an analytical project you’ve completed. The day will consist of talks from 4most’s senior leadership team and a chance to talk 1-on-1 with a recent graduate.
  • Offer & feedback: All applicants will be provided with feedback and, if you’re successful, you’ll receive an offer.
